Carmella
Carmella is an extraordinary 8-year-old girl with a heart as big as her smile. At just 12kg, this affectionate, stocky little lady combines the wisdom of a senior with the joy and playfulness of a much younger dog. Having endured a lifetime without the love and care she deserved, Carmella has emerged as a nurturing, maternal soul who adores other dogs, including puppies, and naturally takes on the role of gentle guardian and friend. She loves companionship, cuddles, walks, and being part of everyday life, whether that's a trip to a dog-friendly café, a countryside stroll, or simply relaxing by your side. Friendly, adaptable, and wonderfully sociable, Carmella would fit beautifully into many types of homes and would make a devoted companion for anyone looking to discover just how rewarding a golden oldie can be.

A little bit about me in my own words
I’ll only sound big headed if I talk about myself but I can tell you I’ve got a cracking personality. I have so much to offer that the charity says it’s going to be hard to encapsulate me in words. Perhaps I can tell you what leesa lists as my qualities. Only the other day I could almost hear the cogs turning as she decided how best to describe me. I’m apparently a matriarchal dog. It comes so naturally to me that I hadn’t noticed. I’m so tolerant & engaging with all the puppies around me that I’m almost like a surrogate mum. This is all the more amazing (testimony to my tender nature) because I was left in-tact & uncared for all of my existence. I had babies when I should have been retiring. I was first spotted by leesa in a government pound in march of 26’. I felt terribly sad as you can see. I’d never been loved.
Leesa helps dogs from the municipalities because we aren’t safe. We’re still vulnerable to being made homeless or given to another unkind person. You can ask the charity about this because it all goes over my head. Despite the miseries I survived like a wren in World War II with fortitude & a stiff upper lip. I’ve bounced on through, literally. It’s because I’m so jaunty & oversee the wellbeing of other dogs that I’m quite the heroine Leesa says. I’m very much the ‘release the puppy within’ at times because i am so excited to have the only thing I’ve ever been able to call a ‘home’. The awful thing is that I don’t know I’m at risk and all this could end. I’d have been hopeful and happy for nothing. When love is on tap in my forever home I’ll settle in beautifully because I won’t be as desperate for company then. Isn’t it lovely to watch me run around celebrating what it is to be without pain & cruelty at long last? I mellow very quickly after the initial excitement & can be so calm. I need a bed so I can rest properly. I’ll let you know that you’re important when I see you with lots of waggy tails & I’m also at 8yrs of age the hearth of your home. Look at how I stand there quietly for cuddles & strokes.
Have you thought about what a senior can give you? I do not require the day to day commitment of some dogs. If you’re at work (for a few hours) I will curl up and wait for you to come home. If you’re there all day my company is invaluable. I’m such a multi faceted lass- a juxtaposition of so many attributes. You’ll have all worlds with me. Leesa & the vet have observed that, as-well as being smashing with puppies & small dogs (+ bigger) I’m brilliant at keeping order & gently scolding the babies if they are annoying, hopelessly receptive to them, young at heart & energetic & also possessing a restful aura.
Perhaps you’re also a goldie though that doesn’t mean you aren’t out and about and staying active. You might want to socialise in dog friendly cafes, go on local walks &want a pal who will greet you like you’re the jewel in their day. Look no further. I’m right here!
I can be with younger or older people, single living folk, couples or families (you don’t have to be in your greater years to choose a senior rescue) & i would be delighted to have doggy play dates. If there is a resident dog that’s fine n’ dandy too. I don’t need leesa to tell me this next bit, if you choose me you’ll never look back. I’m beautiful with such an endearing barrel bottom
