Vernon is a young, petite-medium boy with the most gentle, tender nature — a true “lover not a fighter” who simply wants to be close to his people. Calm, affectionate, and incredibly mild-mannered, he has a soft, almost poetic presence that makes you feel instantly at ease. He forms strong bonds and sticks by your side like Velcro, offering quiet companionship and warmth rather than chaos or demand. Described by the vet as having a real “baby nature,” Vernon is sensitive, non-confrontational, and eager to please, making him a wonderfully intuitive companion. He is good with dogs, cats, children, and adults, and shows all the signs of being easy to train and devoted to his person. Vernon is currently at risk and is searching for someone who will finally give him the love and security he has always deserved.

If he was a musical instrument he’d be a harp not a drum. If he was human he’d be a ballerina not a rugby player. I’m not suggesting rugby players aren’t gentle I’m just saying that Vernon wouldn’t tackle you if his life depended on it.

He’s a lover not a fighter. His so mild mannered & nonconfrontational that you feel relaxed just being around him. His inability to go ‘boo’ to a worm (such is his sensitive & peaceful way) that it prompted the otherwise reserved & controlled vet to remark on his ‘baby nature’.

When she says something like this having dealt with so many dogs you know it has meaning. She only speaks when she has something important & sincere to say.

Vernon is also adorably engaging & presents himself in a somewhat poignant way. He curls into a little walking circle bending his body defensively- ingratiating himself to win acceptance & diffuse any ‘threats’.

His whole demeanour follows & it’s so endearing watching him approach this way. By the end of the video through the fence line you can see his tight little coil unfold.

And whenever he momentarily walks away from the front of the enclosure & the joy of a visitor-you see his body unfold.

We aren’t going to hurt Vernon and he knows that - he just wants to appeal & appease. Vernon is a people PLEASER.

He’s so zen & his aura magical. When he rests his head into your body you feel tranquil & reassured.

Vernon gives more than he could ever understand because no one cared to understand him.

He’s been around cats, children, men & women & wants to toilet away from where he sleeps at all times- like they all do.

The first time I met him he was more mellow & yielding than any pedigree I’ve met. He’s a merry like man. He is the holy grail of dogs.

If you choose him you’ll never look back & vernon will finally have what he always should have known- love. He’s never stopped searching for his soulmate.
