Beanie

‘Beanie’, the gentle, easy-going boy who has now arrived in the UK and is proving every wonderful thing we believed about him. After spending around a year waiting in a shelter, Beanie has settled into foster care with remarkable ease, showing himself to be clean in the house, calm, affectionate, and incredibly adaptable. He lives happily alongside multiple cats, gets on brilliantly with other dogs, travels beautifully in the car, walks nicely on lead, and simply wants to be part of family life. Described by his foster as a "super dog" and an "amazing, bomb-proof, gentle soul," Beanie has shown no food aggression, no fussiness, and no interest in chasing cats. Whether it's camping adventures, countryside walks, cosy evenings on the sofa, or simply sharing your daily routine, Beanie is ready. He is the sort of dog who slips effortlessly into your life and makes it better. If you're looking for a loyal, kind-hearted companion, Beanie may just be the one you've been waiting for.

About Beanie

UK Bio-
Beanie is as fabulous now In the UK as he was in Europe only now he’s validating everything we said he would be & everything we said he wouldn’t be. The difference is that now he like so many can reach his true potential. He’s amazing with cats as many of these dogs are.

He is living with around 6/7 of them as though he’s known them all his life. When I was asked if he’d be ok with cats I knew he would be. I knew he’d toilet outside. The pound environment doesn’t reveal that our understanding does. On the contrary here is a dog that was probably a working dog but doesn’t mean he’s going to hunt down a cat. In fact he’s good with everything including male dogs who bounce about in his face and he likes playing with them even though he preferred the girls here & he’s amazing in vehicles (hence probably used for work). Alls he wants to do is love and be loved & if you wanted to travel around with him going on camping trips or further afield he would be on board for that. He’s also just fine n’ dandy with the quiet life. He was initially dropped off with another one of our seasoned fosters along with sibling pups Shauna and Shannon all joining three other BTC resident dogs & as soon as he landed the fosters words about him were magnificent- see below in the comment section.

When we said he wouldn’t toilet inside like and doesn’t need house training (if our advice is followed because they only know how to go outside and want that) - sure enough beanie is house proud and asking to be let out on DAY 2. He stayed outside chilling on day one. He hasn’t chewed a single thing & he’s the most placid and relaxed boy. We trusted him to be clean and cat friendly based not on what we knew of him in the shelter but from a decade of homing to England. I know what these precious souls can offer & benefit from in England given the gift of time and not a lot of it at that. The vet thanked me for ‘trusting’ the dogs & that’s why I home giant, working, disabled & the overlooked. Not just because I have faith in my own charity & the dedication to navigate it come what may but because I trusted beanie with cats. The chances they need in order to be saved have to extend beyond what we can offer in the here & now but a projection for their future.

Please remember to look at our new catalogue page linked below where you can find Beanies EU and new UK update & many other dogs.

In the words of the two fosters when updating the welfare about beanie on day 1 & 2:-

As I said, Beanie was great in the car, no problems. Got home, straight into garden for a sniff around and wees. Let MarcieA and Ernest out, all three met up and had a good sniff, Marcie went back to bed, Ernest ran around like Scooby Doo. Beanie wanted to stay in the garden for rest of day, he came to the door a couple of times, but declined my invitation in. I fed him on the doorstep, then when time came for door to be closed in the evening, I coaxed him in with his supper and he's been just lovely. He asked to go out for a wee a bit later, let him out and left door open, he came in by himself and back into his bed, he's been going in and out on his own steam ever since. He's quiet and gentle, takes treats very nicely, likes to be stroked, wags his tail when spoken to, no food aggression so far, no growling at M or E and totally non fussed by the cats, they've been rubbing up against his legs and walking under his belly with no issues 🙂 he was happy to have lead put on, and Carol said he walked nicely on it to the exercise enclosure she has for the dogs. I know he's only been here a very short time, so will update you later in week how he's going, but early indications are very good.

Anyway, I'll get some nice pics of B, on his own, with M and E and with cats asap, plus 'a day in the life of' etc. Whoever adopts him will be getting a super dog.

I'd say, Beanie would be a good dog for so many people because he is so well behaved.

If I could have another dog, I'd keep Beanie in a heart beat, even Marcie likes him!!! The video of her and B in the bed is funny, she's looks at him as if to say, "what the bloody hell do you think you're doing in my bed" then she looked at me as if to say "can you believe the nerve of this guy!" When I'd stopped filming, they both ended up sleeping together in the bed, not up close, but still sharing 🩷💙”.

The foster goes on to say: that it would be a big mistake to let a dog like this pass you by-“you’d let an amazing, bomb proof, gentle soul slip through your fingers!”

First Lady who was with beanie for a short while and so taken with him said:-

“his short time with me was impactful.”

Only arrived today but already demonstrating what a surf dog he is. Endless potential!”

EU bio-
‘Beanie’ boy, such a placid soul- the vet said he sleeps like he’s in an induced coma lol. He’s also a joyful companion who loves quality time with other dogs, people & children -Tiverton area Devon ©

A little bit about me in my own words “Where to start? Leesa the rescue owner said I’ve been waiting a while for someone to really want me. She said it’s been about a year. I wouldn’t know because the days melt into one another & I get through each week with serenity & and a calm exterior. I guess I’m just that kind of fella. Leesa describes me as a steady & peaceful energy. When I was first brought to the municipality pound having been abandoned & destitute I was shy. I’ve blossomed because no one is hurting me. I’m fed, watered & keep good company with the other dogs. We provide each other with comfort & I also love their attention and playing in the sunshine. Whilst this is the closest to a home that we’ve ever known I’ve overheard leesa saying that we’re at risk. I’m not altogether sure what that means so you’ll have to ask the welfare to learn more. The vet joked that I sleep like I’m in an induced coma lol. I have a very relaxed & unflappable air about me. She also told leesa on her last visit to the shelter that it’s like a harem of females around me :) I do seem to be very popular and the boys don’t mind me either. I do feel and look sad in here at times. I’m resigned to my lot and tired of the same old. There was a moment when I was told I’d be travelling to the Alps & would belong to someone but it came to nothing because the home pulled out. Imagine how hopeful I was when leesa and her organisation told me that they were going to dedicate their limited resources to help me. They kindly financed (along with a contribution from a compassionate & concerned supporter) my future security by getting me to foster where I can enjoy meeting people in the Tiverton area. I’m so grateful to people who

think of the animals first & not their pockets. I’m not going to be a drain on yours. Alls I want is love, commitment & adventures. It can be walks on the local beach, enjoying parks, woodlands & dog friendly cafes/bars - maybe camping trips & weekends away, snuffling in a Garden would be nice, maybe hanging out at BBQ gathering as-well as pretending the world doesn’t exist from time to time with a cheeky siesta or two & throw in some doggy play dates &/or resident dogs & I’ll be happy. I currently have female & male pen mates. I can be vocal at times

celebrating what it is to be a dog as well as being tranquil. You can see I great with children & Leesa said that I’m a fantastic all rounder and anyone would be lucky to have me.
