Rory

Rory is a gentle, quiet, and beautifully natured young boy with a soft soul and a playful streak. Around 6–7 months old, this Dalmatian-wannabe lookalike is already toilet trained, house-clean without formal training, and barely barks. He lives happily with cats and other dogs, is respectful and naturally submissive, and would thrive in a home with canine companions to play with. Despite a difficult start in life, Rory is calm, affectionate, and eager to please – enjoying toys, cuddles, and simply being close to his people. He’ll need a garden, kindness, and patience, but in return offers a rare mix of serenity, sweetness, and quiet joy. A truly special pup ready to be someone’s heart dog. 🐾

About Rory

‘Dalmatian’ wannabe ‘Rory’- the most gentlest & spirited of boys-living with cats & dogs. Toilets outside. Quiet. Such a brave pup- read on

In the videos & pictures accompanying this appeal please meet leesa the rescuer, the vascular surgeon fostering ‘Rory’ & of course Rory & his friends ‘Richie’ & ‘Tori’.
Rorys caption:- ‘Just a regular pup who loves his carrot toy though he’s only been able to play with toys now’
Below a little bit about their history because they are not defined by it & get through it like the phenomenal pure souls that they are. In addition a description of his adorable nature

Rory (who we named) was abandoned with his sibling in a dog intolerant village that does NOT compare to Port sunlight for example - but one thwart with dangers both of the natural & human kind. Rory was born in the wrong country & a wicked person ripped him & his sister/brother (we don’t know the sex of the other) from their mother (we cannot imagine their terror) & dumped them to die. They had no ability to fend for themselves, no water, no food & worst of all no mother to comfort and protect. The mother however couldn’t shield her babies from harm & whilst she was no doubt chained she watched them get taken away- she would have been helpless and crying. It puts this huge lump in my throat and a whirlwind in my stomach - that goes into my veins and rushes around to recount this chilling & barbaric event. Now destitute Rory and his sibling would have huddled together for comfort. I was told about them afterwards, informed they were scared (no wonder) & asked if I would help by a surgeon living in the area. Her plan was to ask locals to feed them- friends she walks her dogs with to be exact. I offered puppy food from the ‘Jollyes’ donations which was gratefully received. I searched for the pups but couldn’t find them.
Then I was told her friend’s husband had killed one of the pups- and now only ‘Rory’ remained. He followed the surgeon home & has been amazing with her resident dogs & cats from the get go. Dogs are dogs wherever they are from. It’s misinformed to think a pooch born in Europe is going to be anything other than what Rory is proving to be & that’s perfect. He is more than good- he’s phenomenal. After all he’s been through at such a vulnerable age he’s better adjusted than some pedigrees owned by f/b friends bought from a breeder.
It’s because he’s endured neglect and is still this relaxed & docile that you can feel his spirit is pure. Don’t judge a book at all never mind by its cover. There are articles written on why adoptions are so successful when you are their first or second love. He couldn’t be bad if he tried. He’s like a canine version of Noel Coward- graceful, majestic, chic & elegant. Rory has poise & composure. He is also simultaneously joyful, comical, cheeky, playful, goofy & a marsh mellow of love. He’s not over excitable but clearly happy to find himself in improved company. Rory barely barks & as well as being jubilant he’s also serene.
This unique looking chappie is so responsive with the surgeon as she was the first person to be kind. On our second meet (the video attached) he wasn’t the skitty lad that I caught only a glimpse of previously but an engaging dog that circled the proceedings with interest & excitement. The evening before the 17th October a neighbours GS had found his way to the doctor’s home as he loves Tori her female rescue and Rory the sensitive mite was a little frightened. The GS isn’t overly friendly at times. The doctor explained he was a wee bit anxious still though normally he’s not. It didn’t stop him putting on a show galavanting with the other dogs, playing with toys and chilling with the cats. He is not only angelic & pure on the inside (wouldn’t hurt a fly) he’s also stunning on the outside. What a regal & stately looking guy. I decided he was similar to a Dalmatian though I’m sure I’m imagining this. If I’m giving him airs and graces above his station then it’s only as he deserves. He is worthy of the world. So what if his Dalmatian spots have morphed into dapples
If you can give him the world (or just a portion of it on your sofa) please enquire. A more pliable, exuberant, active & cheerful companion you couldn’t wish for. Rory is all things rolled into one- best of all worlds as they say-an older spirit in a younger body & youthful & eager to please. He’s such an innocent character that somehow comes across as naive & vulnerable- like a feminine fledgling- he was just a baby when he lost his mum and probably can’t remember too much about that. His aura is exceptional-I’m not sure how to sing his praises more than I have. He would benefit from other resident dogs to play with & used to both sexes. He will be pleasantly & naturally submissive to other dogs- he’s a gent and respectful- he doesn’t try to insist on putting his counterparts in a position they don’t want to stay in. He isn’t pushy and just mimics & follows what he considers his elders & has never been possessive over a single thing. He does all his toileting outside without any training. I saw him last night on the 26th November & he came over for lots of hand licks, ear rubs & strokes while I was sitting on the couch. At one point his glassy bambi eyes went straight into my core. Rory speaks with his beautiful face & it asks you take care of his heart. I will get more videos. His must haves include:-
* A garden because he’s used to that
* Compassion, patience & understanding
* Preferably other dogs as he’s used to that & adores playing

Please note: every dog is an individual & different aspects present themselves dependant on their companion (is that you?) & as they blossom in their new secure environment. For example a dog that does not walk in a shelter may cant along like they are at crufts day two in a new home
