Mecho
Mecho is a striking 1.5–2 year old Shepherd X currently in foster in the Somerset area, whose world was turned upside down when his owners emigrated and couldn’t take him with them. Loyal, gentle, and affectionate, Mecho has lived happily with children, cats, and other dogs, travels well in the car, and loves walks, adventures, and quality time with his people. He can be a little cautious when first meeting new faces, preferring to say hello at his own pace, but quickly warms with kindness, food, and reassurance. Mecho would thrive in a home with a garden or private outdoor space, regular walks, and committed adopters who will offer stability, patience, and companionship. In return, he promises devotion, cuddles, tummy rubs, and a truly handsome, loving presence by your side. 🐾

AVAILABLE – ‘Mecho’ lad – the Shepherd X – 1.5–2yr old absolute stunner – lived with children & cats/dogs – owners emigrated
In the videos & pictures accompanying this appeal please meet leesa the rescuer, her mum carol doing the videos in most cases, the resident vet or her rescue friends & the beautiful ‘Mecho’.
In Mecho’s own words – “take it from here Mecho lad”
‘Hi as leesa said my name is Mecho & I’m a Shepherd X which doesn’t mean a lot to me though as it makes me loyal, great at staying by my owners side, a master at recall with your guidance & so gentle & watchful over my own – then apparently I’m a catch for any lucky human. I’m not a pure bred so I suppose that makes me even more attractive because I won’t be specific or particular in my ways as a breed can be & my lovely nature draws it’s qualities from more than one DNA.
I lived with a child as young as 7–8yrs in my previous home & I’m currently living with many cats, kittens & other dogs therefore I’m good with dog savvy children and other animals. I get over excited with cats probably because I don’t get enough walks at the moment & bored so for that reason dog savvy cats or cat free homes may just be easier despite the fact I’ve always lived with them. I’m used to men and women & as you can see I can travel just fine in a car.
That means you’re going to take me on adventures to the beach and woods for example so I can use up my joyful youthful energy before a big lazy sleep. If If I play my cards right this will be followed by a Sunday roast. I’m not Boistrous – at the moment I’m just desperate for interaction because I don’t get as much human contact as I’d like after my previous owners moved countries & said they couldn’t take me with them. I’m in an enclosure with the rescuer that kindly took me in.
I’m currently a-bit cautious of new people but with tasty food and kind words it's easy to win my trust. I’m really no different to some of you human folk who might not be all over strangers though once you warm up and they are nice you get into your stride & feel relaxed.
My lovely friend in the car with me is the sister of a boy called Preto (he’s available in the U.K. as a second chance adoption). She’s also available after being let down (like me). We’ve all been so terribly unlucky.
I’m a lovely dog if I don’t say so myself & I’ve been taken by my carers a few times for walks & driving around & getting used to it all feeling excited & curious. Of course I miss what I was used to – my other family and I’m finding my way through life again. I guess it’s like a human when their relationships come to an end. I believe I’m more adaptable than people & its onwards & upwards in a dogs world. It doesn’t define me.
In the videos of me meeting a stranger – you can see how I like to take my time – I don’t need anyone to start jumping all over me and petting me. I want to choose to meet & sniff you first (well I am a dog) and then you’ll see that a few minutes later I’m fine. It’s super quick for me to accept you.
I lived with a child and we got on wonderfully so children who are dog trained and happy to let me meet them first are the best matches for me. If you have a resident dog or plural that’s fine as are cats & a garden to stretch my limbs in is a must-have or at least a privately owned outdoor space like a courtyard. You’ll take me for walks so I don’t need a field as a garden – I just need a little of something.
So in conclusion I’m a charmer, a majestic & graceful fella, the gentle warrior you’ve always wanted & above all else your cuddle buddy. Tummy rubs and spooning are an all time favourite and as a bonus I’m seriously good looking. I’ll stop traffic and win your heart if you choose me & let me be your ever after.
Committed enquiries only please as I recently had a home back out. I don’t deserve it.’
A note from the welfare
Please note: every dog is an individual & different aspects present themselves dependant on their companion (is that you?) & as they blossom in their new secure environment. For example a dog that does not walk in a shelter may cant along like they are at crufts day two in a new home.
