Kaya
Kaya is a joyful, sunshine-bright girl of around 1.5–2 years old, currently fostered in the North Shields area, with a heart full of love and legs made for zoomies. Friendly, playful, and affectionate, she gets on beautifully with people, other dogs, and dog-savvy cats, and would thrive in an active home with daily walks, playtime, and companionship. Kaya loves her food (making training a joy), travels well, is house-clean, and would be happy living with another friendly dog or as an only dog with regular social time. She can be bouncy and excitable on the lead but is responsive and keen to learn, and while best suited to homes with older children due to her enthusiasm, she offers the perfect balance of youthful energy and emotional maturity. After a life of repeated rejection through no fault of her own, Kaya is now ready for committed, experienced adopters who will give her the stability, patience, and forever home she so deeply deserves. 🐾🌸

Meet ‘n’ greets welcome
Firstly in the words of her foster written 18th June 25’:-
“Hi my name is Kaya. I'm here in the UK staying with my foster mum and her other dogs in North Shields. I get along with everyone here, and they are all different ages and sizes so would love to live with another dog, or just me, that would be good too.
Foster mum has a puppy and we get along so well, we love to play, lots.
One of the other fosters, Nina can be a bit of a bully and I do stick up for myself but she always starts it, foster mum always say "I know who caused this argument" as she wags her finger at Nina.
I'm a bit of an early riser but usually only because I need a wee. I have had a couple of accident since I got here but I didnt mean to and I now know how to ask(or I try to climb out of a window so now FM keeps them closed).
I go for lovely walks with 3 of the other dogs and we have a great time running around. FM says I sometimes have selective deafness but then I remember she has treats in her pocket!
I am sometimes a bit naughty when on the lead and bark at other dogs but stop when I'm told NO. FM says that I need some manners and we are still working on walking on the lead without pulling, it's only because I'm excited though!
I love my food and this is what is helping me learn to not get so over excited and boisterous but I need someone that knows how to continue showing me how it's done.
Because I love my food, I do have my dinner in a separate room as I try to eat mine and any other food I can get out of the other bowls if I get the chance.
I'm super friendly with people of all sizes but shouldn't probably live with any little people as I can be a bit clumsy as well as being bouncy and I would be really upset if I knocked one over, but older children would be amazing, we could play fetch all day.
I lived with cats in Bulgaria so I know how to be good around them so I would happily live with them in my forever home.
Do you think I could come live with you?”
Thank you to her carer for such a wonderful & thorough write up

where she’d be left alone for long hours as she’s endured this previously.
No cages / crates permitted - the ones you see in the pictures were in her previous EU homes & not required. She does not like being in a cage & it’s possible she’s had a bad experience of this where it was used in appropriately.
Her history is known from her existence in an EU municipality pound after being abandoned in a country that dislikes dogs through to being a second chance adoption after her first home in Europe faiked her and finally going from her emergency foster to a doggy hotel prior to arriving with her U.K. foster mum. They have kindly given her a long awaited opportunity. Kaya has only ever known rejection for whatever reason and never through any fault of her own. We are looking for committed people only for this majestic looking and joyful gal and we invite serious and compassionate people to please enquire. She gives the best of all worlds being both animated & energetic as well as that mature spirit in a younger body because she’s had to bounce back so many times. I couldn’t be as adjusted as Kaya if I’d had to rely on myself and often been made to feel like I wasn’t enough. We will add a ‘day in the life of’ in her fosters words as soon as it is prepared.
Please request the extended version of kayas chronological history should you wish to view it. The pictures and videos capture all her moments from miserable to improved and it’s the forever home that will write the last and most beautiful chapter. Thank you to the foster & rescuer for giving her the chance
Her history attached here in the words of her rescuer though who Kaya is now with her fabulous foster is the Kaya you’ll meet. She’ll just need time, patience & understanding in during her transition as she’ll miss her home as she doesn’t know it’s temporary:
Kaya’s journey began in one of the saddest places imaginable – the municipal pound in Bulgaria, where she had been caught on the street. At the time she was rescued in July 2024, a private vet estimated her age at around 6 months. Local volunteers couldn’t leave her there. She was pulled out, taken to a private vet, and given a clean bill of health: spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and passported. Ready for a new life.
A few weeks later, Kaya was adopted by a local Bulgarian family – an elderly couple and their daughter. The elderly woman had recently lost a dog who looked like Kaya and longed for companionship again. Unfortunately, Kaya’s youthful energy – her need to play, to love, to be seen – didn’t fit their quiet routine. She was left alone in the yard, barking for attention, and unfortunately, tensions arose within the family. Neighbors even threatened to poison her. It became clear that Kaya needed to be in a safer, more suitable environment.
Thankfully, Kaya then found her way into the care of two wonderful English-speaking fosters living in Bulgaria. The first, a kind Scottish woman, gave her a safe space, but Kaya’s energetic nature proved to be a bit too much for her foster mom’s health. Kaya then moved in with a British woman who already had three rescue dogs. Kaya gets along well with the two female dogs, but she struggles with the larger, dominant male dog in the household. Despite her misunderstandings with him, she continues to adapt to her environment and still finds comfort in the company of the other dogs.
Both foster homes also had cats, and Kaya’s curiosity shone through as she loved to chase them – though she’s never harmed a single one! In fact, she’s often found curled up with them, peacefully napping and bonding.
